Bohnett We Go

We lived in a 1978 Winnebago for seven months.

WE just completed a 1,860 MILE THRU-HIKE OF THE TE ARAROA TRAIL IN NEW ZEALAND.

THIS IS OUR STORY.

JEREMY + ANNA

JEREMY + ANNA

WHO ARE WE?

It all started when a Pacific Northwest boy proposed to a Sweet Southern girl by asking, “Will you adventure with me for as long as we live?”  That question laid the foundation for how we pursue our life together.  We hope to be transparent in sharing life’s highs and lows throughout our adventures.  Thank you for being a part of the journey!

JEREMY

Jeremy is the definition of a mountain man. He pursues life with a passion like none other. He looks like a grizzly bear, but is truly a humble, gentle giant. Jer has a heart for others that is contagious, an integrity that is inspiring, and a drive to accomplish goals that is motivating. He is a native of Seattle, Washington who found himself living in Searcy, Arkansas playing college baseball at Harding University. Jeremy has a deep-rooted passion for the outdoors that peaked after thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail. You'll never see a happier man than when Jeremy is hiking through the woods. He was absolutely made for the outdoors. I am so incredibly blessed to share life with this man! -Anna

ANNA

Anna is a living legend.  Her love and compassion for others is inspiring.  She has a smile that'll brighten up any room and a laugh (snort) that is absolutely contagious.  In some ways I would describe Anna as a city girl from Memphis, TN who enjoys her shopping and thrives in the fast-paced life. But at the same time, Anna is someone who is passionate about the outdoors and truly desires to "live deep and suck the marrow out of life".  Her philosophy has always been simple: Relationships first.  Everything else is unimportant in comparison to her relationship with God, family, and friends.  She puts everything she has into loving others and it shows. Yup...Anna's pretty much the best. If it sounds like favoritism, it's because it is. -Jeremy

HOW WE MET

Jeremy and Anna met at Harding University in the fall of 2010. Anna was a queen for the Titans social club and Jeremy was pledging Titans as a transfer. They became friends during pledge week and kept up the friendship for a year. Upon returning to school in fall 2011, they began dating and let's just say the rest is history. They dated for three months (AKA a really long time), were engaged for six months, and have now been married for three years.

In the past three years, Jeremy and Anna have already had so many amazing adventures, the biggest being marriage! A few of their favorites were hiking the Buffalo River Trail, traveling to St. Lucia for their honeymoon, roadtripping from Searcy to Seattle, backpacking portions of the Appalachian trail, going on multiple trips to the beach, visiting family in Colorado and Seattle, camping for weekend getaways, exploring fun cities with friends, running a full marathon, supporting Anna through grad school, cheering for Jer during baseball season, making amazing new friends, building a great community in Searcy, and living in their 1978 Winnebago.

WHY WINNIE?

It all started when Jeremy called me asking if he could buy a 1978 Winnebago on Craigslist. "Sure! Why not?!" (If only that had been my response!) It went a little more like this: "I'm sorry, what?" Eventually, I ended up coming around and we bought Winnie for a killer deal. We picked her up in Colorado, drove her to Arkansas, but the adventure did not stop there. Jer decided we should LIVE in the Winnebago! Again, my response was not, "That sounds perfect!" It was more like, "Have you lost your mind?!" Once again, I ended up coming around and here we are today. Read more about this decision-making process on our first blog post! -Anna

SEE THE TRAIL THROUGH OUR EYES

We would love to share with you all of the joys and struggles that come with hiking the Te Araroa Trail. We hope you've enjoyed hearing about our experience living in the Winnebago and we look forward to sharing about life in the wild. We are learning to enjoy the simplicity of life and be grateful for what we have. We are learning to train our perspective that life is not all about comfort and convenience. We are going against the grain, but have already grown immensely throughout the process. We are finding so much joy through this experience!
